Demi & Linsey

Demi & Linsey are what I would call BFF’s. We made a few studio portraits for them last weekend.

The lighting setup was simple and more or less the same for all pictures. The girls wanted a white background so I lit the white paper backdrop with two portalites on my Ranger RX. It has symmetrical output at 1100 w/s so it’s quite good at doing that. The key light was a 135cm octobox on a BXRi 250 and there was silver reflector panel left of the camera.

I added a hair light for some of the shots as you can see in the above photo and in the one below on the right. I used a gridded 18cm reflector on a 400 w/s Elinchrom Quadra. B&W conversion was done with Nik Silverefex.

You can see the effect of the hair light in this shot too. Even with a white background it does help to separate the model from the background just a little bit more.

This shot was lit with the octabox above the camera and in front of Linsey. I also added a reflector underneath her face for fill.

Finally, here’s a diagram of the lighting setup that I used for most of the shots in this post.
